Two offers, one decision. Loughborough vs. Essex

Hello there, I am very fortunate to have received two offers from two very good universities for a masters course. I am however really struggling to choose between them. On the one hand, Loughborough is a very strong performer in the league tables, has won awards and has a reputation. Further the degree I chose (Diplomacy, Business and Trade) us very in line with what I want to ultimately do (if I am fortunate). Essex was my wildcard application in business analytics. I feel that this is more specialist but can yet be applied to more management roles than the degree at Loughborough. The negative to this is the fact that it is more statistical/quantitative than what I like or am used to. Essex is a very good university also. Ultimately it feels like my choice is between what I think the more desired degree/university combination will be. The arguably more reputable university with a degree that is very specific but broad at the same time, or the university that is still quite strong and with a degree that isn't as specific to my career ambitions but can be considered specialist and can be applied to more than one role. I am very aware that neither will guarantee me a job and therefore I am being told to go for the one I believe I would enjoy most....however, that may not be the best idea per se. Any advice would be helpful.

Not sure why you think going with what you will enjoy most is not a good idea. Rankings and league tables mean little. If the specialist degree will put you in a bit of a niche I would steer clear of it.

Hi Georiard

I think you should consider which course is going to suit you the best. I wouldn't worry about the actual uni - both are good and you'll be fine whichever you pick. Personally I'd pick the one that delivers what you want out of your masters and where you want it to take you in your future career. So research the course content and focus on that rather than the uni itself.

Hope that makes sense

Hello there, I'll go to Essex S campus to take business analytics this year. Have you decided which university you will be?
