Comparison of Edexcel Maths paper 2014 vs 2018

My daughter did paper 2 (calculator) from 2014. She got 94% closed book. I think the latest papers from EdExcel are way harder - she gets 60-70% max in the latest sample papers. Does anyone else see this pattern?
Yes- it’s because of the new 9-1 system. Edexel has brought content from the A-level into the GCSE. But because of this the grade boundaries are lower. So in the new 9-1 GCSE 50% is an A and around 60-65% is an A* (8). Which means the grade that comes out at the end will be the same across both papers (2014+2018) but the percentages will differ because of the new spec compared to the old spec.
