AQA Practical 5/6 report. Asking for guidance Watch
Practical 5: oxidation of ethanol to ethanal using Sodium Dichromate(6)
then separating the mixture by distillation
Practical 6: Tests for alcohol, aldehyde, alkene, carboxylic acid, haloalkane.
I haven't finished either of them in class because I'm very slow
I was asked to write up a report on those two practicals and it is due in very soon. My writing ability is terrible and the practicals didn't go so well and that is not really a problem most of the time except this time I am clueless as to how I should approach a report about something I dont understand very well.
The class, including me, received a how-to-write-a-lab-report guideline which states what I should roughly write:
The Title: 'An investigation into organic functional groups'
Conclusion: a summary - what you did and what i found out from the experiment - what did the results show?
Evaluation: What could you do to improve the practical? Why did you do particular steps? What would you change? How would this affect your results?
Those questions are brilliant only if I knew how to answer them without deeper knowledge about the methods used. I felt like a robot being fed some instructions.
I feel as though I don't know how to think critically about anything I did in any of those practicals.
Im asking for anyone who has done a report on maybe different practicals and what they wrote about specifically with examples if you can. Some insight into what you would do in my situation
