some people do, i'd say most don't
Well, giving an opinion based upon my friends and myself, not many of them had any one night stands, and if they did, it was only on the odd occasion. I certainly didn't have a single one night stand whilst in halls last year and I have a boyfriend now so I most definitely don't

some will somee wont. just like in the rest of society
Never believe hype. It's rubbish.

As with all these things when you generalise you will get a multitude of different answers. Some will, some won't. Some will have one and realise mistake others will continue. As everyone is different, then every situation at every university will be different.
As has been already said some do, some dont.
There are people who will go out and have a 1 night stand at every oppertunity, and others who will go through university never having had one.
There are those at both ends of the spectrum, and many inbetween.
I think it's more like you have sex with people that you aren't in a relationship with, but you do know them!

I'd like to echo everyone else and say that some will, some won't.
I mean, if you want it, you can probably have it (I could've had a few one night stands by now if I'd wanted). But it's not going to be like one every night or anything.

Well I know some who've had loads, some who've had a few and some who've had none! So yeah.. I'd say the hype suggests wrongly
I think in the first 2 weeks at uni you'll find their most prevalent, and from there they'll taper down to a normal level. There are plenty of folk in commited relationships too.
i used to think a lot of people did. when i was like fourteen, i heard a bunch of birmingham uni students on a bus at 7am banging on about who shagged who where and when and how many condoms they did and didn't use and it really put me off birmingham uni- it was so freaking crude!

Well i "Withdrew" from uni after about a month or so, but from that i heard and saw.. it seemed that only the chavvy types slept around. It was weird though, even at uni there was this "popular" group that everyone felt slightly intimidated by.. they seemed like the biggest bunch of wannabes ever but hey God knows whats become of them now.
Surely it depends on what kind of person you are. If you are a person who likes in being a committed relationship just for uni you're not just going to have a one night stand just because thats a 'uni thing to do' lol. I agree with Yusuf2007 at my uni too I gather its only really these 'chavvy types.' the answer is most likely to be 'no' overall really

It's overestimated, but you're more likely to have casual sex with people you vaguely know. I don't think many people go looking for total strangers. Not any more than outside of Uni, anyway. If you're looking for sex at Uni, you'll generally get it though.
well it is all steryotypes.
Some do, some don't but I think generally in halls you can't unless you manage to keep some of your life to yourself, in other words you can come and go without too much fuss.

Freshers week and a bit after, I'd say it's easy for those who want casual sex to get it (the constant going out, drinking culture etc simplifies this a lot), but yeah - some people will, some people won't.

Obviously coming to uni. and being away from home, people let their hair down so it's probably more common than at high-school.
