Citizen's Advice Bureau

Do you reckon it's good to work at the Citizen's Advice Bureau if you're thinking of becoming a solicitor?

Ok, now some of you know that I had started the LPC but quit it 3 weeks later coz it was tooooooo much!

Anyway, now I'm thinking that i'll take this year out and work at the Citizen's Advice Bureau (voluntary)then go back to do the LPC part-time next year. Do you think that's a good idea?

Apparently when you're applying for training contracts it's a really good thing to have on your CV. It can also get you up to 6 months off your training contract.

What do you guys think? Come on, help a sister out here man. Also, I'm 23 right now and by the time I finish my LPC (if I do it part-time) then I'm gonna be 26...Will I be too old then?

I'm on a gap year (before uni) and am starting at my local CAB soon. I've heard it's a good idea...

I want to do it - came very close to it actually, but there is the problem of time. I'm not sure what you're doing about your LPC, but they do want at least one whole day a week (Mon-Fri) from you. Unfortunately, this is something I'm simply not able to give - I have contact time at uni on all of those days! Just something you should bear in mind.

Paymaster...Thanks for the link  Interesting.

And thanks to everyone else

Muncrun...Yeah, there is the problem of having time to fit it in with uni...but now that I've decided to take a year out I should be able to do it. It'll give me experience and look really good on my CV  And well, right now I'm not so sure whether I want to become a solicitor so maybe it'll give me some idea.
