C4 trig equations

sometimes they dont tell me what form to put into, so how would I know to use Rcos(x+y) and not something like Rcos(x-y) or even Rsin(x+y)? or does it even matter?

If they don't tell you, it doesn't matter as long as it's technically correct. It would just make it a 7 mark question instead of 6.
