soooooooooo im partway through my a level exams and I can confidently say i've passed, but failed at the same time so I won't be getting into uni, or my insurance choices. I had planned to get CCC so i could apply to a queen mary foundation via clearint but the way my chemistry exams have gone i've definitely not gotten a C...or a pass...

in all honesty I'd happily retake, but does anyone know if universities let you retake a levels THERE? like any russell groups..? I know foundations are pretty much tailored retake years but I don't even think I can get onto them

Unfortunately, the whole point of entry requirements is that you have to get them before you start the course- it shows you have the knowledge to hit the ground running in first year. So no, the uni won't let you retake while starting first year.

Your best bet is probably to retake next year through your school or college. The Russell Group is not a homogeneous group, and even different courses at different unis will have different views of retakes. If you get, say ABB next year, you will give yourself a lot more options.

You can transfer unis after a foundation year as well, so if you're desperate to go to uni in September, then do consider non-RG foundation years, with a view to maybe transferring afterwards.

Some universities don't like retakes unless there are extenuating circumstances. But most don't mind.

And it can vary by course - check individual university/course requirements. And don't limiit yourself to the RG - it's a lobby group, not a badge of quality.
