Does anyone have sci-fi recommendations? Only recently started to lean over into the genre and it would be great to find some new ones (particularly character heavy books).

Arthur C. Clarke, Ray Bradbury, and Isaac Asimov have great short stories! Some of which you can find online as well, which is great if you have a Kindle. Along with Philip K. ****, I think they're the immediate recommendations people give as they're bastions of the genre.
A lot of the books I have straddle the sci-fi/fantasy genre so the following might be less "pure" sci-fi: A Wrinkle In Time (a series) by Madeleine L'Engle, Artemis Fowl (a series) by Eoin Colfer, Maximum Ride (a series) by James Patterson, The Host by Stephenie Meyer, The Road by Cormac McCarthy, Across the Universe by Beth Revis, Chaos Walking (trilogy) by Patrick Ness (which is going to be made into a film soon!).
