    Q1 - Differentiation

    a)  3x(5+3x^{2})^{-1/2} [2 marks]

    b) Evaluate  \int({1 + sin4x}) dx [3 marks]
     x - \frac{1}{4} cos(4x) + c

    Modulus of inverse tanx question

     k = \frac{\pi}{2} [1 mark]

    Modulus of inverse tanx. [2 marks]
    Reflect in y axis

    Show that  5x + 3 = |{tan^{-1}(x)}| has only one solution by drawing a line on your graph.
    Straight line intersects at 1 point in negative in negative x.

    Find the equation of the tangent to the curve which touches at the point  (1,\frac{\pi}{12})
     -\frac{1}{7} + \frac{\pi}{12} + \frac{1}{7}


    Q4 - Functions question

     f^{-1}(x) = \frac{1}{2} (x^{2} - 3) [3 marks]

     x \geq 1 [1 mark]

    Find the range of  x^{2} + 4x [3 marks]
     f(x) \geq -4 , complete square, find minimum.

     y = -\frac{1}{7} + \frac{\pi}{12} + \frac{1}{7} [4 marks]

    Iteration X=-0.377

    Solution for g(f(x)) = 21, x = 3, 23 DISCARD 23  g(f(23)) \neq 21
    There is controversy with the answer to this question with  \pm \sqrt{85} - 4 being a common answer as well.

    Q5 - Graphs

    a) Draw the graph of ln(2x) [2 marks]
    Must intercept x axis at +0.5.

    b)

    c) Describe a sequence of transformations that map ln(2x) to ln(4x-3) [4 marks]
    Most popular route: translation -0.75 in x, stretch s.f 1/2 parallel to x axis. More controversy with this as a popular answer is a translation of -1.5 in the x.

    Q6 - Substitution

     \ln(\frac{3}{2}) - \frac{1}{3} [7 marks]

    Q7 - Double integration by parts

    c)  \pi((-\frac{25}{108} e^{-12} + (\frac{1}{108} e^{-6})) [3 marks]

    Q8 - Trig question

    a) Show that  \frac{sec^{2} \theta}{sec^{2} \theta + 1} + \frac{sec^2 \theta}{sec^2 \theta - 1} [3 marks]

    b) x = 1.14, 0.0940, 2.71, 1.66 (3 sig fig) [7 marks]

    I really can’t remember many answers, I remember for the substitution I got ln(3/2) - 1/3 and I just remember the double by parts was absolutely grim.

    I got this. My double parts revolution answer (the non exact value) was 6.6something x10^-5

    I got that. Double parts really messed me up so I just had to leave it as it was. I probably used the wrong substitutions but ugh well.

    Anyone get root85 - 4 for g(f(X)) = 21? or something like that?

    Yeah I got something like this for the none exact value and it seemed so small which isn’t nice. I kept it as an exact value though.

    That looks right. I also got -1/3+ln(3/2). For the Volumes of Revolution, I believed I had a standard form as an answer but I kept it in terms of Pi

    I hated that one! I got a quadratic which factorised to something like 3 and 23. But then I subbed them back into gf(x) and 3 worked however 23 didn’t so not sure there.

    Not nice but appropriate, I found the y value for x = 4/3 And it was quite small, so it would only make sense for the volumes of revolution to be quite small.

    What did everyone get for the transformation question? It was like f(2x) to f(4x+3) I hate transformations so I probably got it wrong
