English General Paper

The school I am in currently is doing English general paper. I have done English Language for GCSE. The teachers from my GCSE school said that I am legible for A level English Language.
I want to take English Literature for uni. As I am not doing English Literature (because it's compulsory to take 5 A level subjects and I am doing sociology by myself), will the English general paper be enough for uni?
