what shops employ 16 year olds?

i've been looking for a job for the past 2 months but unfortunately havent been lucky enough to find one.

what stores/shops take on 16 year olds. any of you who have been able to get a job when you were 16 (or if you are 16) can you tell me where's the best place to apply and what do they usually look for?....(if your an expert then can you give further info.) thanks...Xx

A lot of retail establishments will take on 16 year olds. Just try asking/phoning up loads of high street and other stores. Hand in your CV.

How about supermarkets?
I worked in Morrisons when I was 16-18. Starting rate was about £4.50 and by the time I left I was on £5.75 p/h and doing 20 hrs a week. Not bad :smile:

Most places do. I've been working in Boots since I was 16, most of us all started when we were 16 too, so definitely give it a try.

Oh-No!

Im 16 and work in sainsburys. I have friends working there that are 15. Im a checkout assistant, work part time (12 hours a week) on £4.88 starting rate, but going up to £5.11 in the next few weeks (as i have nearly been there 6 months)

Try local cafes and restaurants they're always looking for people to do waitressing and washing up. You will also find that about 30% of your pay is tips :smile:

(i get 5.50 an hour work a 6 hour day and get 10 quid tips most days)

yeh most stuff you can do at 16 if you get desperate go get til experience in a charity shop then reapply in a bit wiht some relevent skills. you'd have to be pretty desperate though :p:

As soon as you have officialy left secondary school you can be employed full time in most shops, so you should be able to get a job in most retail outlets, the hard bit is just finding a vacancy! I started in Debenhams when i was 16.

nah i knew nowt about dance or metal or folk or anything like that n bot all about games but now i know loads!!

You have to do a product knowledge quiz tho when u go for interview
