What is roe? Is it some kind of fish?

Reply 2

Roe is fish eggs. I'm from the East Midlands (Derbyshire/Staff border ish) and I've never heard of roe and chips ...

Never heard of it, give me Cod, though our fish shop is usually only getting Haddock these days.

I used to work in a chippie, just outside London. We had people want roe maybe once or twice a week, it's really not that popular. You wouldn't think so, but it's really yum!

Roe and chips is delicious. I can't believe more people haven't had it.

I've heard of it but never had it.

I am from Birmingham. I was amazed when I went to a fish and chip shop outside the Midlands to discover that this wasn't a perfectly normal thing to eat! You can also buy it in Weston-super-Mare but that is because it is full of Brummies!

Battered roe is ****ing lovely though and has more flavour than a battered fish.
