I can't possibly make that decision for you. Which course do you prefer? Have you visited the regions? I'm biased, but I'd say Oxford. I'm not keen about studying in London.

which course do you like the looks of most?

which course will lead you to your desired career path easier?

are any of the courses prerequisite for a chosen career (i.e. you must have the msc to work for the world bank, or some nonsense like that)?

do you want to live in a smaller, quieter, pretty city, or the most vibrant city in the uk?

also, is there is a difference in fees?

can you come up with "why not" lse or "why not" oxford?

Common question between oxbridge/LSE. Its very hard to decide since they are both excellent universities; since they are so, you shouldn't be taking second opinions on it, as everyone will be biased. I recommend you look at the courses offered in each, see which suits your taste best. On terms of prestige and employability I would say they are the same, but I'm sure someone will disagree one way or another as I'm not upto date on that information.

Best advice, look up the course structures, what is offered in each course and mainly, will you enjoy being there?

Thanx for comments.. I looked through the course sturctures and they both offer courses that I want to take in international financial governance.

I studied at Oxford before as a visiting student and worked in the city as a ibanker. So i know both cities. I asked my professors and they were all like "both are good" I asked my friends they were like "you've been Oxford.. so why not LSE?" but then my mom is like "go to Oxford" I know what do expect at Oxford.. so going LSE feels risky.. :frown:

I think I will party too mcuh if I go to LSE. And it's too expensive to live in London.. But then people are a bit too much academic at Oxford. Also, I feel like I will miss out a lot of career opportunities if I study at Oxford.

Some people say that the ideal path is doing undergad at Oxbridge and postgrad at LSE. Is it true?
how will you miss out on career opportunities by studying at Oxford?

Even if it were true, surely that's irrelevant to your case, since you didn't actually do your undergraduate degree at Oxford?

Anyway, I agree with everybody else: the most sensible thing to do would probably be to base your choice on which course you prefer - they sound quite different.

My experience at LSE has been that people have a very pre-professional mindset. This is the opposite of what I've heard about Oxford. In hindsight, I think I may have enjoyed Oxford more.

Hi,

Could you please let us know which one you finally chose to go to and what's been your experience so far in terms of jobs, student experience, learning etc.
I am facing the same problem as you did in 2008, having got through the same courses for 2010 entry.
Any advise would be great!
Thanks
