I stayed at Westwood a while back and found that I could hear the person in the next room singing to themselves

Like any student accomodation, the walls aren't soundproof, but you can get away with listening to music as long as it isn't too loud

I guess my drums will have to stay at home then :frown:

*please accept me liverpool, please. I can't stand being away from them*

What happens with playing music in your room? Can it be heard in the other rooms?

Cos i listen to music all the time, and it'll suck if i have to use headphones...

what music do you listen to?i guess the neighbours wont mind if they share teh same taste; this could be problematic for me.

Reply 4

I listen to loads of different rock music, but i bet knowing my luck i'll end up next to some Usher fans or something.

How come it'd be problematic; what music do you listen to?

Reply 5

yeah I reckon this could be bit of a problem - better turn the sub down on my speakers I guess! Unless, as you say, the people surrounding you have similar tastes. Shouldn't be a problem really.

Most of the stuff I listen to is indie/rock - Snow Patrol, Oasis, The Music, Embrace, Muse, Damien Rice etc. etc. the list goes on, but my tastes swing hugely - I've been known to listen to a bit of rap or metal or even the odd bit of (say it quietly) dance music if I'm in the right mood! So suppose I could get on with most people. So long as theres not a huge Blue or Westlife or Take That fan next door blasting it at level 20 next door!!! lol!

I'm so looking forward to this now! Westwood's so gonna be fun!

Haha...I listen to techno (and most of its subgenres) most of the time, hard to beat *lol* I'm only bringing my laptop for now and don't have separate speakers to go with it to date - better not scare everyone off too quickly

Reply 10

Well to be fair, each to their own

And from all ive heard everyones taste in music broadens at uni, so maybe ill be listening to techno too in a few months time!

Reply 11

Provided I don't get stuck next to the sugar plum fairy, a hardcore Abba fan or some death-metal head, it should be fine.

I'm looking forward to nicking CDs off people

\X/estwood...!

Reply 12

Don't think mine could broaden much more! Unless I find a liking for country and western or become partial to a bit of Mozart.

I'm in Westwood Quarry Terrace (thats Westwood A I think!)

Spending most of this week getting all my stuff ready. I'm from the Isle of Man, so I have a bit further to go than you guys! An extra Ferry crossing to heysham and then down the motorway from there. Should be fun. ROAD TRIP!!!!!

What's your room number, or floor?

Reply 14

i appreciate all good music. have to say my music collection has become somewhat crippled over the past few years with all the mp3s ive downloaded. have to admit i dont buy cds as often anymore.

i'm also in quarry, level 5 or flat 5 or whatever the number after the R represents!

Reply 15

Quarry level R4 or flat 4 whatever it means (I have to confess I have no idea what this buildings gonna be like!)

Reply 16

Ah just wondering, I'm on R5.

I don't know, but I assume:

Ground floor = R1
1st floor = R2
..
4th floor = R5.

seen a few pictures, looks nice enough. sounds like it'll be a good laugh.

found this pic supposedly of some westwood terrace:

he looks pleased enough with it anyway

edit: note breeze-block'ish' walls, while we're on the subject of hearing other peoples music

i thought that but at first, but someone who'd been to look round reckoned the numbers 1-5 were along the terraces like house numbers. unless its a number for which staircase you're on, meh.

edit: r5.03 i think, you?
