Where's the line between wanting to be friends and wanting to be more??

Hey,

I'm a 19 year old guy and have never really been in a relationship with a girl, I've always felt kind of awkward around them. I think this might stem from my inability ever to be "just friends". I always at one point or another seem to want more, or at least I think I do... So, my question is: how do you know if you just want friendship? It may seem like a silly question, but the more I think about it, the more I find that the line between wanting friendship and wanting more is very thin.

Thanks for the help guys.

Please keep this anon as there are a few people I know who use these boards and I'd rather they didn't know I was contemplating this issue!

Wanting more is to want to have sex with them and have a closer emotional bond, just generally being there for them more.

The line is wherever she wants it to be.

Read about ladder theory, OP.

I agree with Lex, I think it's quite easy to know the line. Some girls I guess you could be friends with at the same time as thinking you might want more, but nothing serious like a relationship, just some fun.

Just friendship would be not wanting a relationship and pretty much being comfortable around them as a friend and not thinking any more of it.

There isn't a line. There's a haze, a haze you'll never be completely out of.

You just know if there is something more. "The line" stuff is stupid, if something is going to happen you can feel it. Its a different feeling when you know your just going to be mates from when it could be something else.

I dont think there is easily ever a simple and clear line that you can get, as every relationship is different. Its what ever the both of you consider to be friendship behaviour and behaviour that hints to be more.

I think as long as you dont get to envolved and make sure you keep to behaviours that are typical friendship ones you should be okay.

For me it's if i think about them while i am in the shower (not thinking about them in the shower...but that too:P) it's where i do my best thinking. But seriously, it's when the way you think about them changes, i guess it's different for everyone though.
