Hi, I'm trying to choose my accommodation for the University of Leicester (it's my insurance choice, but I think I can apply now as I've got an unconditional offer?).
So far, I really like the look of Ashcroft House, The Coppice and The Pavillions.
At the moment I'm thinking of applying to:
1) Ashcroft House single studio flat
2) The coppice single studio flat
3) The coppice single large studio flat
4) The coppice en suite
5) The Pavillions en suite
I wondered if anyone had any experiences with staying in a studio flat in the coppice or ashcroft house as a first year. Can you access the other flats and are the studio flats grouped together?
Also, does anyone have any experiences of staying in ashcroft house/ the coppice in general? How did you find it, and if you stayed at Ashcroft House, how far was it to other facilities like music rooms, places to socialise, dance studios etc.?
Oh, if anyone can give me some more info on the application process (do you have to put down at least 1 non en suite etc) I would really appreciate it :-)

Hi,

You are correct, you can apply for accommodation on https://rooms.le.ac.uk as an unconditional insurance offer holder. You won’t be allocated and made an offer until you are confirmed to be coming to Leicester on results day.

In my first year of university, I stayed in The Coppice but not in a Studio Flat. I was in an ensuite room in a flat of 5 and really liked living there. The Coppice is a large converted house, with 16 different flats inside, each flat has a locking front door, so is only accessible to those that live in it. The studio rooms do tend to be grouped together.

Ashcroft House and The Coppice are both in John Foster Hall. They are both very close to the reception and facilities building. Ashcroft House is right next to it. This building has social spaces, study spaces, music rooms, a dining hall and a dance studio. You would also have access to all the other hall social spaces across Oadby Student Village.

For the application process, you can choose whichever room types you would prefer. You do not need to choose one or more of any particular type. You can make between 4 and 6 preferences and we will allocate as close to these as possible. I’m not sure if you have already made an application as your original post was some time ago, if you haven’t yet done so you will now have to wait until 9:00am on 16th August 2018 as the accommodation portal is currently disabled for the UCAS results embargo period.

Kind regards,

James H
