hey
i’m currently choosing my a-levels and i’m interested in becoming a mental health nurse. most university’s only state that they require a ‘science subject’ but is not specific on what that is.
i’m planning to take psychology as i have an interest in it but i’m not sure that’s classed as a science. other sciences like biology, chemistry and physics have only been taught to me by supply teachers over the past 5 years so it’s not an option for me to take one of those up at a-level.
do mental health nursing degrees accept psychology as a science?

hi, different universities will have different requirements, so it would be better to contact individual universities about this if this information is not already specified on their website/in their prospectus. I would say that it is generally the case that psychology can be classed as a science subject for courses such as nursing, but you would need to check. I am coming to the end of my first year of MH Nursing at Uni of Nottingham, and I took sociology, English literature, psychology and biology- they've all served me really well so far! Good luck with everything
