Can someone give me a basic summary about politics, particularly about the labour and conservative parties, that I could have a conversation about with someone?

Start watching youtube videos. This isn't something to be taught in a day. You should really learn about some key questions or debates between different ways of thinking eg abortion, gun laws, hollywood and feminism etc
Make sure to balance out the left wing with the right wing aswell, because too much left wing can make you forget about facts. I recommend listening to Ben Shapiro arguments (not highlights), jordan peterson and politcal commentators of thjs sort (J.P isn't really a political commentator)
