How to make a CV

I want to get a summer job but I have no experience and have no idea how to lay out a CV. Can someone help please
Hi!

It’s a brilliant idea to get a CV together for when you are applying for part time jobs; it means that you can leave all your details with the employer straight away rather than having to keep them waiting!

CV’s come in all shapes and sizes so I understand if you’re a little unsure of exactly how it should be put together. The first thing I would recommend is having a look at the CV section here on The Student Room it’s got lots of examples and tips to help your CV stand out from others and can be an excellent starting point! I’ve included the link below:

https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/jobs/apply/cv/writing-the-killer-cv

You can also get a lot of information from the National Careers Service website about writing CV’s as well:

https://nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk/get-a-job/cv-sections

https://nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk/get-a-job/cv-tips

These websites can offer more information about how to make sure the employer sees the best side of you and how to make the most of the experiences you’ve already had!

I would also recommend speaking with one of our advisers as they can offer more specific information based off your own skills and interests you can speak with them for free in a variety of different ways through the following link:

I hope this will help to begin with but feel free to get back in touch with any questions you have!

Good luck!

Tom National Careers Service team.
