uni helppp :(

i'd really like some advice on what i should do at uni..
i do chemistry, physics and maths at a level and I'm hopefully predicted a*/a's
(i've basically finished year 12 this june)
my plan was to study medicine in order to specialise in psychiatry as i would really like to work with young people to improve their mental and emotional health, but with me not taking biology a level, i am realising that specialising in psychiatry will take years and years of studying medicine and i do not know if i will be able to do that or if it is for me? on the other hand, i really enjoy chemistry and studying it at uni may be an option for me, but it doesn't 'help people' like i originally wanted to do? however i do feel like although i might enjoy it, what jobs would i get out of it? because i don't really want to go into research/engineering..
maybe i should consider medicinal chemistry/pharmacology bc i find psychopharmacology quite interesting but i don't know if there are any good jobs :frown:
anyway this is me just ranting lol, just felt like i need some extra advice on what to do as i don't really enjoy the aspects of medicine related to biology (which is stupid if i was going to study it, i know)
thanks if u even read this lmao
I get you! I wanted to do Psychology undergrad but during A-levels I realized that I really don’t enjoy anything biological (which is a very important aspect of psychology) neither did I find research methods exciting. However, I was still passionate about helping people. So now I’m studying English Lit major Paychology minor at the University of Buckingham and I hope to end up doing something like book therapy, Happiness coaching etc. Obviousoly I’m not an expert in jobs in your field of interest, but I think you need to do what you enjoy and there will always be a relevant job if you’re utilizing your most authentic strengths. 😅Maybe you should look at combined degrees too if you’re not sure?

Figure out what you actually enjoy, not what you think you'll enjoy.

To be a psychiatrist you first need to study medicine, but you don't need to take biology to do that.
