university sociology degree

what job can i get from doing a sociology degree?
You can go into teaching or even office jobs. Depends on what field you want to enter and whether you want to use your degree or not.

Hi,

You can go into so many things as a sociology grad such as HR, research, finance, media, teaching etc. The University of Kent especially where I am gives students a lot of support in choosing a career path and equips us with skills such as critical thinking and use of statistics programmes which employers from all areas look for

Hi, I really enjoy the course at Kent as we have so many options to tailor your degree to what you’re interested in. Through module choices you can choose all the various aspects of sociology that interest you and follow a specialism in that area. I’m hoping to go into HR after uni but Journalism is also a possible career path from sociology! You would get taught not only the writing skills you need but also critical analysis and research approaches which help you construct your own opinions and interests. Additionally, sociology is focused on current affairs and current social issues that are in the media which will give you further knowledge on it. Sociology is also a very open degree in its pathways so if you decided not to follow a Journalism path, there are still so many options for you from office work like HR or analysts to the police or teaching. I really hope this helps, please don’t hesitate to ask more questions if you have them and I would really suggest attending an open day!

Hi Kirsty, thanks for the reply! I've put down Kent as one of my options and I've decided on definitely doing sociology now  but I'm also considering sociology with media at Sussex. I also booked an open day at Kent but unfortunately couldn't attend and now open days are finished I believe :frown:. I'm currently finishing off my personal statement and I wanted to ask what type of work experience looks good with a course like this? Thanks
Hey,

I’ve just firmed my offer at the university of Lincoln to study sociology. Would you say it is worth it? I am worried because I’ve been reading a lot about how it is a ‘worthless’ degree... would u disagree???
