I am only guessing here, but I seem to remember reading a 2.i or 1st would be enough (obviously, the higher the better). I don't think they'd be too concerned about your A-levels or GCSEs.

what about what university you went to?

do u need to get a 1st in ur degree from a top ten uni in order to to a MA at Oxbridge?

Well, actually the only way of getting an Oxbridge MA is by doing an Oxbridge BA first...
Seriously, though, the basic requirement for MPhils and MSts is a 2.i, although for some very popular courses the standard condition is a first. Whether you did your first degree at a "top ten uni" or not is completely irrelevant.
Also do they take A Levels/GCSE's into account...?

No, of course not.

It shouldn't be a factor by a long way. PG applications are done by your references, academic ability/results/aptitude for the subject and your personal statement.

Look, we made a sticky thread in this forum to answer your question, OP. Look it up!

This was originally in the UCAS forum. The most obvious place for asking questions about graduate applications...

'1st', 'top ten uni' and 'A Levels/GCSE's' - thinking like an applicant, you are. When it comes to postgraduate studies, if you can become a serious scholar in the works then you will become a much more serious applicant to a degree programme.

They didn't ask about my GCSEs at all. I 'only' got a 2.1 at Exeter University and still got onto the MSt in Linguistics at Oxford.

I've never known a Master's course anywhere to ask for A-levels, let alone GCSEs. None of the masters I applied to did (including Oxford).

Reply 10

They ask for any qualifications gained after the age of 17, so given that I gained my A Levels at 18, I put them down. Though I expect whether you do or not is up to you.

That's interesting. They didn't for mine - just asked you to submit a CV, and I presumed that putting GCSEs/A-Levels on it was optional. I did, because my work experience is feeble.

I had to put mine down but think that's common for UoL applications

Yeah, at least one of the MPhils in London (I think it was KCL) for philosophy said they wanted to know your A-level grades.

Reply 14

No A-level grades for LSE applications.

i don't ever recall listing my a-level grades. ever. in fact, i don't even know if i have them any more (i've not seen my a-level certificates in years).
