Under the “curriculum” tab - or on myplace you’ll see them- when did you register? Can take a day or two to show - it will be fine 😉

Hi, not sure if you can help me, but I am a postgraduate research applicant. I received a message via Pegasus on Monday saying I had met all the conditions and would receive induction details shortly, however, my application still says conditional, when will this change to unconditional, or have I even been accepted? I need to know so I can book travel and accommodation as I am from Northern Ireland and as more time goes by it is getting more and more expensive. I have sent a message through Pegasus but it has not been read yet.

Hi, I’m starting in September but I’m only 17. In terms of freshers will I be excluded from some activities? or will I still be allowed to attend and go to the union etc, just without alcohol?

Hi @kat1977 - thank you for your message and I hope you are looking forward to starting with us soon!

As long as you are a Strathclyde student, yes - you will be able to attend all the events taking place in our Union, but you can’t purchase alcohol. Obviously this only goes for freshers' events hosted here at Strathclyde!

You can find lots of helpful information on freshers fortnight on our union's webpage. I really hope you enjoy it!

Best of luck - Sarah

Hello. I wanted to know how much the average students spend on textbooks every year. Thank you.

Hi @Soophie,

It will depend on your course as every course is different. I study law and my textbooks came in at around £260 last year. What are you studying? Has your lecturers given you any information about the cost of your core textbooks?

If you need help with anything else then feel free to get in touch!

Hi doesn’t Strathclyde have a reading week? When we’re off for a week?
Hi @NadiaRehman,

Strathclyde doesnt have a reading week as we get such a long time off during the summer!

Hello!
I am Rupinder and I am about to begin PhD at University of Strathclyde. Since I am a self funded international student, I intend on doing part time work to support myself. I want to know are the PhD students at Strathclyde allowed to work for standard 20 hours per week or is it lesser for them?
Hi Rupinder.

The university recommends that you work no more than 15 hours per week but these are just guidelines. It depends on how you feel your studies are going- if you can work more and keep on top of your coursework then do that but if you feel that your studies will suffer because of the extra hours you are working then cut back.

Thank you so much for help. 15 hours are alright. I thought I read somewhere that phd students can work only 9 hours.
Hi @Rupinder dhamoon,

You're welcome, as I say it's up to yourself! See how you find the course when you arrive and take it from there.

If you have any other questions then feel free to post on here or DM me.
