Hi Sarah, my son is keen to apply for Civil Engineering and Civil & Environmental Engineering. We live in Stirling, what is the chance of him getting accommodation allocated if offered a place?

Hello @Karenmooney12 🙂
If he's interested in either of the Civil Engineering courses then he only needs to apply to one. The students are on a shared curriculum in the earlier years and can change between the Civil/Civil and Environmental degrees. If he just applied to the one then that means he can use another choice on his UCAS form and isn't wasting any of his choices 😀

For accommodation we have a 25 mile radius from campus in terms of prioritising room allocations. If your home address is within the 25 mile radius he'd still be able to apply but it's unlikely we'd be able to offer him a space given the demand for accommodation. There are some exceptions to the rule and if you'd like to find more info about them or get in touch with our accommodation team directly you can find their details on the webpage here: https://www.strath.ac.uk/studywithus/accommodation/. I know it may be a challenging thing to plan for but unfortunately in recent years the demand for rooms exceeds the number we have available, and we have to prioritise those coming from the furthest distances.

Hope this helps!

Hi, my daughter has applied to Strathclyde and we too are in Stirling. I emailed the Accommodation Team with our postcode and they said that we are just outside the 25 mile radius and should be okay however they have not yet developed the allocation policy for 2024 so things might change. Send them an email, they got back to me really quickly.

Hi! I sent my UCAS form in at the start of November. I haven't had anything back apart from confirmation of receipt. Will I get a fee status questionnaire (I have for all the other unis) and how long will it take to hear about an offer. Thanks so much.

Hello! 🙂 Don't worry if you've not had a confirmation from the departments as we don't always send these out. If everything looks as it should in your UCAS Hub this will be fine. Unis technically have until May to make offers, but generally we work towards making decisions before the end of March where possible. You might hear back sooner than this too - until you hear otherwise you're being considered 🙂

Regarding the fee query - I can't say whether you'll receive this based on the info given here, but if you'd like to email [email protected] they'll be able to advise!
