I second Whiplash, it's in my top ten movies of all time and this is coming from a film student who's seen over 450 films and counting currently...!

It's great isn't it. I'll never tire of watching it but I wish I could watch it for the first time again. That ending!

Yeah, JK Simmons is mega. Watching the "insult" scenes never gets old. I like the ending too, and there are other beyond memorable scenes like the bar and Andrew getting into the car crash...it is a damn near-perfect film in my opinion.

A couple of films similar and better I will suggest to you are Brazil (1985) and Total Recall (1990)

Please note. They are a little visceral in parts. Not for the squeamish lol.

I love watching the insult compilation when I want a good laugh. So many memorable scenes in Whiplash which I won't mention so that I don't ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it. To think it was Damien Chazelle's first movie (excluding his thesis film) and he was 29 years old when he directed it on a budget of just $3m makes it even more impressive.

X+Y is a great film if you love maths (but you don't have to to enjoy this film)
Les Miserables and most musicals are brilliant to watch.
The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas is another great film.

No country for old men
The hangover (absolutely hilarious)
Lock,stock and two smoking barrels
Deadpool
Inception (deep and very complex story but brilliant)
Whiplash
Shutter Island
Wolf of wall street
The revenant
Meet the fockers (again hilarious)
Logan (brilliant but doesn't touch the dark knight)
