Yep you are on the right thing. The student number is the UCL reference number on the top right corner of your physical acceptance letter.
Bump. It can't be that everyone on the UCL forum is a first year in halls. >_>

Hello I'm a UCL alumni and I was surfing the forum out of sheer boredom. When I was there 2005-2008, the most popular area for UCers was Camden and this was where I lived in my final year, it is however, fairly expensive for a student. For me it was worth it, but your situation may be different. In my second year I lived in New Cross which is South East, quite cheap but I felt very isolated from the UCL bubble. I tended to cycle in which took 40 mins but I was a rower so it was a handy way of getting in extra training, but the tube/bus took nearly an hour and was a bit annoying unless you motivated yourself to use the time to revise or plan essays.

It also depends largely on whether you plan to live with close friends (and where they want to live) or if you want to pick a location and then find people to live with. I'd go with the former as you'll have a much better student experience with people who will make your life a lot more enjoyable.

Whichever way don't worry about it but start thinking about people and places towards the end of the year as it can be like herding cats to get group decisions. Also if you're earlier than the majority, you'll get the pick of the places and you could get a bargain. Good luck!

anyone been in Connaught hall?? i saw info on the web says internet access is limited and for studying only, does that mean the speed might be quite slow or something?

thanks for advance!!

It's a fast connection, limited to 35GB per week, and some sites (p2p filesharing and pornography) are blocked.
Hi i've just completed the accomodation application but it didnt ask you to apply to specific accomodation ... is this right and you just get dumped in a house of their choosing or did i do it wrong and miss something?? thank you!
hi basically i applied for accommodation about ... 3 weeks ago now and i was wondering if anyone knows when roughly i can expect to hear back?
thank you
bump
I really want to know a little more about this. I'm doing my law degree and I'm applying for a masters. Is there accommodation for Masters students and how would I apply? If not is there anywhere I could advertise I am looking for a house share or somewhere people advertise they are looking for a roommate?

Thanks

You will only hear back in mid-August (if you got a conditional offer) or early August (if you are unconditional)
Thanks for the input. We are hopefully putting down a deposit around that area now.

Hi!

I'm in Commonwealth Hall (catered, intercollegiate) wanting to move out of my halls for the last term because I'm getting a place in London.

I can be gone by the 24th March and cost for the last term is £1748 (approx 174.80 per week)

Catered includes Breakfast and Dinner weekdays, Brunch and Dinner at weekends.

Message me if you're interested!

pmed you

Hi,

I will be a final year student returning to UCL for the next academic year, is it possible for me to apply to intercollegiate hall such as connaught?

I did not live in Connaught hall in my first/second year.

Many thanks
can't decide between Astor, Langton and Schafer, any recommendations? Or can you not choose on the accommodation application?

You can't choose specifics. Those three are all good though, I live in one and have spent extensive time in the other two

I literally do not know a single person who lived South of the river. It's definitely not something "a lot of people" do. Very few people I know lived outside Camden/King's Cross/Holloway/Kentish Town.

Might this be different for Postgrads?

Also, moving into a 1 bed flat rather than sharing a house means living further out simply to be able to afford somewhere.
Hi, just applying for my accommodation. Does anyone know how I can possibly get the accommodation I really want (ian baker house) as I see you can't really put preference to the location you want :frown:.
I have taken this photo for my accommodation application, so do you guys think it will be alright? I know it wants passport photos, but I took this myself, so I'm a bit worried my application will be returned or something.
