Hey everyone, I have been revising OCR history (A level) for my end of years which are soon and am particularly unsure about Henry VIIs government.

I feel like if a question came up on this topic i simply wouldn't have enough to write about for a 20 mark essay (especially if they asked how successful his government was), even though i do know the basic information from the textbook and class about said topic, so i ask:

i) What are some examples of exam questions this topic, i cant find many online
ii) What content would you write about in each paragraph and the conclusion

Any and all help is greatly appreciated

Is there any reason you can't go to the OCR website and look at the specification and what it says, then go through the exam papers and compile a list of questions on Henry VII?

[I now see it is VII and not VIII].

The questions are all to do with consolidation of power, control , the economy , diplomacy and rebellions as far as I recall.

I could look them up for you but its more beneficial if you do it yourself.

Cheers mate, its not that i cant be bothered to go look it up myself, more that i find it beneficial to also see what other students think as well as looking up the official stuff. Maybe that just me

You should learn to be self-sufficient.

Hi,

I personally haven't studied your topic and I am also not with OCR however, I might be able to offer a generic structure for government Q's and how I would approach them.

Firstly, government Q such as 'how successful was x in his government' are quite broad and allow for a variety of structures. You could either approach this by looking at the different areas of his govt. (as I haven't studied this topic I don't know if my examples are correct) e.g. the privy council, secretaries, nobility etc. or (and this is my preferred structure) you can structure it by politically, religiously and economically. It is up to you to decide which one you feel more comfortable with.

For a more specific Q about for example the consolidation of his power you'll have to look at the different areas of his power consolidation and how successful he was in each of those areas. The same applies to other potential Q's about rebellions, the economy. Decide on the factors and then you structure it like that.

Hope this helps and if you have any questions feel free to send me a message.
