How do I ask for work experience?

Hi, I want to get some work experience in film to get an idea of what it is like working in film, like similar to those ones you did in year 10. Whats the process for asking for some? Do I just ring or email the company asking if they can offer some? Also, does it matter if I'm 22?

Clearly, I ain't good at this sort of stuff, would appreciate any help.

You should go to your careers advisor or tutor (if you're in college/uni). Also, with film I think you'll only be able to find placements and workshops which could be really tough to find and limited, not really sure what kind of work experience you're describing. My friend said he worked as an extra and earned a lot of money from it. That counts as experience I'm assuming. You can look for agencies online for that if you want.
