What is Computer Science like in Newcastle University?

Hello, is computer science at Newcastle any good compared to other Universities like York and Edinburgh?

Great to hear that you're thinking of studying with us!

We seek British Computer Science accreditation for our degrees so you can be assured that you will graduate with a degree that meets the standards of the industry. BCS is the Chartered Institute for IT and studying a BCS-accredited degree provides the foundation for a chartered IT professional, engineer or specialist. Our degrees are also available with an accredited paid work placement which provides you with practical experience and industry contacts.

We are also a Russell Group founding member, which means we are research intensive and are one of only eight Russell Group universities to achieve TEF Gold Award for teaching excellence.

Newcastle is a great place to live and study, with the benefits of having a campus university right on the doorstep of the City Centre. This means that you're only a few minutes walk from all of the restaurants, shops and bars in the city. Our metro train system makes it easy to get around, with a stop right outside campus and direct trains to Newcastle Central Train Station and the airport. We also have blue flag sandy beaches only 25 minutes away.
