For the new specification of Physics A Levels there is now no exam for practicals, but you must complete practical investigations that are written by yourself to help you with your exams. This will be marked as a simple pass/fail.

I believe all exam boards have moved away from exams for practicals as cheating is possible. Physics exams are now linear like most A Level subjects now.

The only A levels with a practical exam is the Cambridge International A level - this is mainly taught outside of the UK, but some private colleges do still offer it and some Home Educated students do take it.
