Scared for college/6th form!!

Okay, so I've had a stutter problem since like year 7 or maybe year 8 and it wasn't that bad then but it got kind of bad in year 10 where I have to literally stamp my foot to get some words out and make weird faces in forcing the words out. It really is embarrassing but obviously my friends understand, I'm currently in year 11 - well just finished year 11 and I remember when my teachers were looking around the class searching for someone to read I use to duck my head down so they wouldn't pick me. If by chance they picked me, sometimes I found myself not stuttering and reading perfectly and other times stuttering so bad that it would be embarrassing but my class would understand. I've never had bullying issues with my stuttering other than that one/two joke of my friends teasing me but Ofc I would tease them about something else lol. But seriously, I feel like I'm loosing my self confidence with this stutter and I really DO NOT want to go into college with this stutter...AND I really dont know what to do to get rid of this stuttering problem...Even if I get a speech therepist he/she may not get rid of it by college which is in 2 months time!

First of all, it's disgusting that teachers would pick you to read knowing full well how much you struggle.

Secondly, the more you worry about sixth form, the more you will struggle. This might sound stupid, but have you been to see a specialist about this? There are things you can try that will help, even if only a small amount.

You shouldn't worry too much. As you say, your friends understand - so will your new friends. It's honestly not the end of the world, and I doubt you will get treated any differently for it. I don't know if all sixth forms are the same, but I know that ours was much more mature than our school.

Thank you so much for the advice, I'll try not to worry and yes I'm planning on seeing a specialist this summer holiday. Well, it was some teachers rather than all that would still make me read but they didnt know that my stuttering problem was really bad and they probably just thought I was 'nervous' and believed it would help if I read however other teachers would understand my discomfort and wouldnt make me read.
