What of physiology?!!

if the med thing dosent work out i'm thinking physiology but am i the only one?? the Birstol course especially sounds great because its really varied...so..anyone else thinking physiology?

p.s Can doing biomedicine/medical science, physiology etc course..and doing well, lead you into medicine?? just wondering...

You could apply to read medicine as a graduate - but beware - it's much more competative than applying as a school leaver. If you want to be a medic, but don't get a place this year your best bet is to work your ass off, get AAA, gap and reapply.

Can I remind you that we do have a medicine forum, before this goes any further.

True, but neither does this board either - maybe more to do with the amount of grads/final year students on here...

Yes, um... fluffy (btw I love your avator+message underneath, lol!).

A degree which includes physiology certainly can lead you into medicine, however there may be a possibility that you'll need to study an extra year or two, but you can get in (to medicine) for sure.

I'm kindof in the same boat you are, though I'm not interested in studying medicine persay, more interested in chasing up a career in healthcare, but still, same basket of fruit.

At the moment I'm studying (in physiology/biology) vertbrate physiology and human phys+ functional anatomy. It's quite hard, but any1 can get the hang of it, just takes practice (and decent lecturers).

Are you studying physiology at the moment? If you are, tell me, and we could arrange a sort of study session. I'm keen to get one going before the start of next month as I have exams in this area very soon.

Hope to hear from you soon!

I've just graduated from bristol in physiology and its a really great place to do the course. I'm now doing a graduate entry medicine course and I found my physiology degree an excellent base for studying medicine. However, this isn't an easy way to do med, so dont rely on getting in on a grad entry course! I found the bristol course really good. It is different from most other physiology courses i have heard about because in the first and second years you study 3 subjects, only one of which is physiology and you have free choice over the other 2 subjects that you study. For example in my first year i did physiology, anatomy and pharmacology units and in the second year physiology, human anatomy and pathology. The third year is exclusively physiology, and is great cause its based on research seminars that allow you to learn about stuff at the cutting edge of research (not as difficult as it sounds!). you can choose modules from any of the medical sciences, and one of the options can also be taken outside of the medical sciences eg psychology, computer science, philosophy etc. Bristol is also a great city to be a student in, so you'd definitely have a good time if you went there (you can probably tell im missing it quite a lot!) Hope this helps!
