You'll need to check with the school or college you want to go to. Pearson (who run BTECs) don't provide guidance on this although it is a level 3 qualification which suggests most students on the course will have done OK at level 2 (GCSE).

I don't recommend the newer BTECs with the exams, particularly the National Extended Diploma in Computing I'm doing at the moment. Pearson have basically crammed the course with way too many coursework units to be able to complete within a year, I'm already having to do 3 assignments at once, no free time at all outside of college because I'm constantly doing assignments, the assignments themselves are stupid, a mix between useful stuff and outdated or irrelevant stuff from the 90s.
