A lot of amazing books are originally written in another language and translated into English. However, the downside of this is that meaning can sometimes be lost in translation.

Imagine you speak all the languages in the world (or just the language of a book you would like to reread in its original language). Excluding books written in English (and any other languages you speak, if applicable), is there any book you would read or read again in its original language if you spoke the language it was written in?

Probably the pianist (can’t remember who it’s by) which (I think) was originally in Polish (correct me if I’m wrong)
and the girl with the dragon tattoo which I think was originally in another language.

I would reread Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky if I knew Russian :daydreaming:

Also, I would love to read books by Japanese authors in their original Japanese :pinch:

I'd read all of Freud's books in German, the language they were originally published in
