Medicine in Leeds university

Hi, I’ve been told that Leeds university offers a good Medicine undergraduate course but that they prefer candidates after a gap year as tgey are more mature. Is that correct? Can anybody tell me your experience when applying to Leeds for a medical degree?

Talk to Leeds.

Their admission criteria are here and no mention of such a preference.

You can also talk to medical students.

I'm going into my third year of medicine at Leeds and i got accepted straight out of sixth form, however, the people on the course are varied some are school leavers, some people are in their late 20's, some post grad, some have transferred from Bradford. It's a mixed bag but Leeds is a great place to study, so fun!

Unlike many medical schools I spoke to they are open to deferred entry applicants such as myself. I’m not sure that there is any definite preference as many more still come direct from 6th form, but there certainly isn’t a bias against :
