Quantity surveying: PQS vs CQS

Im currently studying quantity surveying at uni and on placement with a CQS firm. Im looking at doing another summer placement next year, but probably with a PQS firm such as Mace or someone similar.

I was just wondering if anyone who has experienced both has any information about:

• Which is more interesting
• Which has more opportunities
• Which is better paid (starting and with experience)
• Which they preffered
• Any other information about the two

I am quite biased as my experience is with contractors, but please feel free to message me as I’ve dealt a lot with client/consultant/private QS’s and commercial managers.
I felt my course was heavily PQS based, so I feel that a decent starting salary could be achieved - but I believe better wages are achieved earlier with contractors, it’s more competitive, duties vary, faster paced and more relaxed environment.
