Fresh summer sunshine, breeze and fruit, fruit that's been left out in the sun for a while.

That is an incredibly vague question, as there are many different drinks. Most alcoholic drinks are an acquired taste for sure. The ones that aren't/are very easy to drink from the get go tend to be worse for you as they are full of sugar.

The only beverages I like are cider and fruit cocktails, otherwise they taste really bitter like beer or some sort of medicine, but then again I'm not used to the taste and barely drink it.

A good stout beer: Rye and bliss.
A cheap lager: Defilement and sadness
General red wine: Varies heavily, but, usually fruity.
Gin: Gasoline. It's amazing.
Whiskey: Damned smooth if it's well aged.
Bourbon: Beats whiskey out.
Kentucky Moon: Might as well ask to go blind, but damn good with a smoothie.
Vodka: I'm Polish, so I know a thing or two. Only that gold-flaked stuff with the chilli is worth it.
Amaretto: Cooking? Sure. Straight? A touch sweet, very very very nutty.
Triple Sec: Damned good, but, can't hold a candle to
Cointreau: Go to a bar, ask for a bottle. It'll keep you happy. However,
Blue Curacao: Beats Cointreau.
White wine: Good for cooking fish or perhaps rabbit. Not great for drinking.
Saké: Refined. Perfect. You can cook with it, you can drink it, you can rub yourself down and have it with your partner with it. It's the pinnacle.

Obviously depends on the drink but I find for sprits in general the weight of the liquid is lighter than water. When spirits are mixed with a soft drink most of the time you can't really taste the spirit and taste the soft drink more. Beer is bitter, with lagers being more watery and fresh than ales. White wines tend to be fruity, fresh and acidic and reds buttery, smooth and like winter spices.

Hope this offers some insight!

I used to live in Africa where they put battery acid in the home brew to spice it up. Definitely not a recommendation
