Age Problem

Please keep anon as i don't know who uses this forum and i'd rather it be deleted.

I am the youngest in my group of friends, i'm 18 in august. Everything though recently with my friends tends to revolve around going out to town and getting drunk on every opportunity. We used to go out all the time but now recently their becoming more strict on ID and things like that, and i'm the only one who isn't 18 yet. My friends are quite good at coming out of places if i don't get in and going other places, and i have borrowed people ID's a few times but i can tell they are all getting fed up of it and that they've stopped inviting me out sometimes. It gets me down because at the moment this is the only thing they want to do socially and i feel like i can't join in and that i'm being slightly left out. Any advice?

Find other friends who you can do things with or join a club so you dont have to resort to trawling round town like a sheep.

I would like to do that, but the thing is i really like going out when it's good and it used to be great when everyone was the same age. But they are my closest friends and i know when i do go i miss out on things, as pathetic as that seems. I need an older sister or a really good fake ID

ugh. I used to have that problem with my friends. most of us were 18 but a couple weren't and they just stopped asking them out. and if we all went out and the others didn't get in they basically took the attitude of 'tough luck i'm afraid'

try going to bars that will allow under 18s in, but not to drink. or organise more house parties if that's possible? maybe just confront them about it, because it's not going to go away on it's own :frown:

my bday is at the end of august its so bad...try and get someone to send off for a new driving license and when they get a new one you can just keep their old one
I had this problem too. My birthday's in September so I wasn't even 18 for A level results night. :frown: Luckily I look quite like one of my friends, so she would go in with her driving license and I would follow with her passport about 10 minutes later. Might be worth a try?

I wouldn't worry too much - everyone will be going out less now anyway because of exams.

aww don't worry i know how it feels, nearly all my friends turned 18 before Decembre. I hardly see them at weekends now :frown:. I look very young so I'd never get away with it. Don't worry you only have a few more months to go, it will fly by.

haha i won't be 18 either :frown: by 6 days aswell eughh!!
I have asked my friends about the 'them loosing their provisional and ordering a new one' thing but i don't think any of them want to risk us getting caught having the same name and that, which is fair enough. The driving lisence/passport thing is a good idea though which i may suggest. It just gets me down and i fear i may loose my friends eventually :frown:

i was like that for a while too.
arrange having a night in where you can drink and piss around. your friends might enjoy it just as much and be willing to do that until your 18?

I guess it depends which region you live in then- my brother and friend have birthdays on 01/09 and are the oldest in their year.

yep i'm sep and moved up into the year above when i was little, so i'm always the young one! - i wasnt 18 for results either  erm, we just went to places where either they dont id or you only get ID'd at the bar, but coming to uni in a big city they ID everywhere, so i can see where your difficulty lies.... to be honest when it happened at my sch, it was a bit of a "phase" when everyone turned 18, and by the summer it had kind of died down and people were spending more time at peoples houses etc - people were just going out because of the novelty, and then it started to wear off when they realised how terrible the nightlife was in my town! - failing that, just go out to spain! i was there aged 17 all summer and not one single ID!

is 18 to buy alcohol but they dont really enforce it...

i know how you feel man. my burpday's right at the end of august. and it's pants, 'cause all my friends are already 18, and they're all arrogant stood-bah backwards now. makes you feel really isolated.
suppose it doesn't help i look about 13 either though. crapsticks.

I find that you don't neccessarily need to go somewhere that requires ID to have a good time. House parties and parties on the beach (if you have one) don't usually ask for ID and so long alcohol is provided, you're in for a good time. Stick it out as hard as it may seem to you itll be, but by the time you turn 18, you'll find a new found happiness while all your mates are used to it.. Don't worry, everything will work out in the end.
