I am hoping to apply to study architecture at Ucl but my major concern would be the living cost of London as well as the possibility of getting "lost in the crowd"and not being able to socialise (as opposed to in a small university town). Could someone who has either lived in London or even better has gone to ucl please offer me some advice.

Thanks

You still get a community feel at UCL/London from halls, courses and societies where socialising is easy and varied! Yes it's more expensive, but you getter a larger loan to help cover costs and many students do some work over the summer to help.

The Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL is ranked 2nd in the world after MIT. So yeah you put in a bit of extra money now but you're studying at a world class institution imo.

Your biggest concern should be getting accepted by UCL as they have thousands of people all over the world applying, and the issue is they have only 100 places. Focus on your portfolio and then think about living, if you get accepted they offer a lot of help with finances.
