Biology A-Level needed for medicine at university?

Generally for medicine taking biology is a given and many schools require biology and chemistry. However some places will accept chemistry along with other sciences but you'll have to do your own research for this. This may be a good link for that (I have no idea if it's still up to date):

Not taking biology will close many doors to you but not all of them. I'd definitely take your time in making your decision whether to take it or not so that you won't end up regretting it.

It says '2018 entry', but the website wapwaattajj treated (today, by the looks of it) to show 2019 requirements☺
