Eating curry every night

My dad has always had a curry from asda most nights (like 6 times a week) ever since I was 10/11 Ive had some form of curry and rice for tea every night (apart from the occasion lie birthdays) and still do. Thing is Ive heard curry is bad for your health expecially every night so Im going to start eating other more healthy food for tea but my parents tell me to stop moaning when I mention that its bad for their health, they say they work full time and all they want to do is relax not be hassled by me. Im worried about them I think they should change their eating habit too. They are not overweight and neither am I (in fact im slightly underweight) and we are healthy but I don't think my parents will be when they get old if they carry on eating curry. Or am I worrying over nothing?

It's always good to have variety.

If I did that I'd be locked in the loo 24/7. I'm amazed at the strength of your stomachs!!

I think I read that it is quite bad for you.

The problem is the super market ones will contain a lot of salt, colorings etc too. They are fine as a one off but you need varity.

Starchy rice, ghee, perhaps some cream.... not the healthiest choice to eat 24/7

Eating a kind of home made curry is probably not the worst thing you could do, but you will have seriously high salt levels if you eat ready meals every night of the week which of course is terrible for your arteries. You will also be taking in high levels of saturated fat, also bad for the arteries even if you are underweight.

You can't make your parents change their eating habits no matter how hard you try; but it is important that you take responsibility for your own health. Buy yourself a cookbook and learn how to make proper dinners. Don't continue eating this way if you are worried about your health!
Curry is a mild poison, which can cause dihorrea, but i guess there's no real problem!
'proper' curry is very bad for you - one of the reason why many asian people i nthis country have worse than average health.

'proper' curry is generally oily and has laods of powder and stuff that is bad for you.

supermakret curry maybe a tad different but i would lay off.

lol I don't like very hot curry usually chicken dopiaza or chicken tika masala. My dad can eat very hot though.

I still wouldn't be able to take it! Both myself and my mum decided we wouldn't even be able to take the mild chicken curry that my sister made us at Christmas.

I am but what about other ready made meals like spaguetti or jacket potato? What do most familes who work full time eat? Who don't feel like cooking etc..

What about tinned soups? Will my arteries actually unclog if I change my diet? lol
Home made probs would not be too bad.
Ready meal/restaurant curry every night does not sound good.

Why not make a huge pan of home made curry and portion it up and freeze it so you have home made ready meals every night if you must eat curry every day?

Ready meals are okay sometimes but not every day.
I wouldn't eat an English curry every night of the week. Not enough balance. Probably be a bit better with Indian curries.
I made my dad drink a pint of milk last night with what I consider to be a mild chilli con carne.

Its all habit, they're stomachs are used to it, hence they have become resilient to the affects of curry on non-frequent curry eaters.

Ready meal jacket potato or spaghetti? I don't get it? How can they be any easier to make than they already are?

Open Packet ==> Microwave/Oven ==> Plate ==> Munch.

Substitute 'open packet' with 'make', many could not be bothered.

Just take the sleeve off, prick them, pop them in the oven then 30 mins later go back to the over and they are done. Making spaguetti involves chopping vegetables and well..actually making.

I don't understand these "effects" of curry. The only "effect" curry has ever had on me is tasting good and satisfying my hunger.

Maybe it's because I don't eat curries from Asda, I don't know.

Are you talking about microwave meals? They are not good for you even if they aren't curry! There are no vegetables in them and they are full of salt, as are tinned soups.

My parents work full time but it really doesn't take that long to make home made food. We usually have potatoes, bacon and cabbage or vegetable soup or something. Just normal home cooked food.

There are so many people at uni with me who think I am an amazing cook just because I can cook basic meals - all they eat are ready meals and pasta. Theres a serious lack of variety not to mention vitamins and minerals in a diet like that. If you get into the habit of cooking now then you will be glad when you are older.

I saw a ready made ommelette the other night, nothing is easier or quicker to make that's warm! Apart from maybe porridge? O and they make that too lol. I just don't get this ready meal craze, once you've eaten properly for a while you won't even be able to look at them again OP.
