UCAS clearing- going to different uni.

So I have studied one year at the uni of Chester & I am now terminating my position so that I can go to the uni of Liverpool to study a totally different subject.
My original subject was French and Chinese, but now I plan to do Egyptology. I have filled out my 2018 UCAS form and waiting for references. However, my grades alone prohibited me from going to Liverpool uni through clearance last time.
Has anyone experienced this before? Did your previous year at university put you in better stead to be accepted? I hope I can get accepted, it is my dream course! Thank you.

Have you talked to Liverpool admissions? they cna tell you over the phone or e-mail whether you stand a chance or not.
Presumably your grades have been excellent 2:1 + standard? If you are seeking to use those to get you into a course you were previously rejected from.
Be aware this is your last chance to be financed for a full degree so make sure it is the one you want and it wouldnt be a bad idea to look at employability.

I emailed them and was told that they’d be considered, but then I called them to make sure and got told they probably wouldn’t. So I’m a bit confused.
Overall I did very well, I got a first in one module & 2x 2:1 in the other’s. I missed my final exam due to illness so I “failed” that module but I am retaking in August.
I have looked into going into work for a while but I know that this is what’ll make me happy. I tried desperately to get on this course in clearings last year but they wouldn’t even look at my application because I had a D. Now, I’ll be in “pre-clearing” which means that I’ve had to write a personal statement and get references, so hopefully from this I have a better chance.

If you have any specific questions, I do Egyptology at university, so feel free to drop me a line via PM. Best of luck!
