I always end up getting my hair cut too short because I never know how to tell the barber what I want.

My hair currently looks like this https://imgur.com/a/37DsnSx
just not as good (flatter, less wavy). I don't look good with short hair on top so I want to keep my length as it is, but I can't pull off long sides and back very well so I need to get that cut.
My problem is that I do not like the haircuts that most young men tend to have nowadays where the sides and back are practically bald and there's a lump of hair on top: https://imgur.com/a/1tWvutj

I want the sides and back to nicely blend in with the top while also maintaining a noticeable length difference. What should I ask for?

Just don't get the nazi haircut that seems popular these days. The short back and sides with the long top. If you don't believe me google it. Hitler and his regime promoted that particular haircut. Its very scary walking down the highstreet and seeing all the guys sporting this hairstyle.

This haircut has a dark history. That’s because it was popularized by the Nazi party in Berlin; indeed, flip through any history book, and you’re apt to see it crop up a lot in images of the Third Reich.

Compare it to the swastika, an ancient symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism that the Nazis stole.Yet in the Western World, we still associate the swastika with Nazism, and if you go out in public with a swastika on your shirt you’ll deservedly get punched in the face — whereas thousands of well-dressed young men, almost none of whom are fascists, rock the undercut on public transit every day without anyone batting an eyelash.

Its also no surprise that this haircut is popular in alt-right circles  which has been gaining political power over the past few years (see: Richard Spencer; Milo Yiannopoulos).

Can you spot the fascist?

Does he read BuzzFeed or “Der Stürmer”?
Does his girlfriend call him “daddy” or “mein herr”?

The swastika represents the Nazi Movement. Their haircut, how they looked etc.. doesn't. Duh.

If someone wears a swastika, they obviously believe in the idea it represents. But, having a similar haircut to Nazis means absolutely nothing unless they had a very specific type of haircut which you would see and think yep that's a Nazi over there (which they didn't)

Tbh those haircuts looks pretty damn good ngl. But yeah, if having a specific type of haircut shouldn't be allowed because of Nazis then we shouldn't have a lot of the Technology, Clothing Brands, Cars, Drinks other brands that Nazis made popular. (Fanta, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Hugo Boss, Kodak)

show them a picture, barbers prefer actually knowing what you want rather than guessing from your instructions

Just say 3 on the back and sides, scissors on top.

A simple, unpretentious, uncontroversial haircut.

What exactly does "scissors on top" mean?
I want my hair to be long on top, like it is now.
