Diesel, Snakebite or (shudders) Snakey B?

The fauvorite drink of the first year student seems to be half a pint of lager mixed with half a pint of cider and topped up with blackcurrent juice.

My friends have always known this to be diesel or snakebite but at Hull Uni they are trying to make it sound funkey by calling it "snakey b" which just sounds terrible.

Anyone else got any weird names for this?

Just a snakebite but someone once told me it was illegal to sell them. Sounds unlikely though.

hmmm, yeah. I think every student union in the country would be prosecuted if that were the case then.

I don't see why its so nice - its a bugger to get off clothes if you spill it lol.

I think that it it illegal to mix more than two drinks in a pint glass or something. Not exactly sure so don't quote me on it.

Its illegal to serve beer and cider mixed together. Most pubs serve it as half a lager and black and half a cider and black and give people a pint glass to mix the two. None of the pubs I worked in let me serve it as a pint pre mixed behind the bar.
very odd

I once had a little too much of that stuff and it made me violently sick for the rest of the night. Not fun.

Never came across that before. Love snakebite. One of my mates only drinks black velvet which is guiness mixed with lager. Very nice and some places will put a nice little clover on top as well like they do with straight guiness.

Diesel is the "proper" name for blackcurrent with snakebite for anyoen that wants to know.

actually iirc Guiness and Lager is a Black and Tan. Guiness and Cider is a Black Velvet

Usually a Black velvet is Guinness and Champagne, but Guinness and Cider is a recognised alternative. It's layered with the Guinness on top, and looks quite cool while it flows down and mixes (Guinness is heavier)

Actually Black and Tan is Guiness and light mild.

The best is the Irish black russian.

1 Pint of Guiness
1 Double Vodka
1 Tia Maria

Mix and enjoy...

I always thought Snakebite was just lager + cider, and Snakebite Black was the same with Blackcurrent, hence 'Snakey B' (Which sounds SO public school IMO). Have never seen it not served in a pub, although I have heard it is illegal. Funny old world...
callin it snakebite at Nottm Trent, but i keep getting told by my grimsby flatmates that it's called diesel.

prefer drinkin a normal pint of Stella anyway....
