Fed up of the tossers in my hall

Please keep anon or delete as want to rant and dont want a bad rep as a moaner.

Had a peaceful 8 days as the loud ones were away for easter so its been harmony, I see the quieter residents in the kitchen and talk and its really nice, as they are polite.

The loud ones who just happen to be in the same corner of hall as me(and in next corner) are the type who the guys act like they are gods gift use loads of beauty products go to gym a lot, but are drunk by 5pm each day and come back anytime up till 7am and even though the cleaners come twice a week at lunchtime by 5pm the entire hallways are trashed, smashed bottles, messed up floor from dropped and stamped in food.

Anyway had a excellent 8 days as I say, so quiet, so peaceful, had relaxing nights sleep.

Now its back to doors slamming, yelling in hallways(too much testosterone) running up and down hall, slamming a stolen Tesco trolley about, playing football in hall, smashing plates from kitchen.

What uni is this? Just curious.

Lol the Tesco trolley sounds funny.
Why didn't you ask to be moved into different halls?

Reply 7

I feel for you!
Lots of people go to uni to get away from it all and enjoy some fun so I can see where they are coming from too.

Try not to let in annoy you, as you only have to put up with it for a few more months.
At least you have a few of the quieter people you can chat to and stuff as well.

Problem is the loud ones are ALL on my floor and the floors above are the quieter residents.

Already tried to move halls but uni refuses saying I havent a good enough reason as I also wanted to move to a cheaper hall now loads of students have dropped out.

Perhaps say to your uni thyey make you lsoe sleep and therefore they are jeperdising your studies. Your paying ur uni for acommodation so you should be taken into account.

i don't know how big your rooms are (i've seen some pretty squat type ones) but maybe you could try and make friends with the quiet ones, and ask if you could board with them until you get it sorted. you could maybe put a big complain in to whoever's in charge and keep getting on at the uni to give you a new room - even if it is in the same hall, just a different floor (quiet floor)

Just moan loudly enough and often to the uni authorities. I made a plea to them a few years ago and am now so much happier  don't give up just because they didn't listen once. Keep at it!

Well I moved from another campus to this one at Christmas as I changed course, and originally asked to leave contract as the doctor recommended I move to a small house as living with loads of people was bad for my health, and even got a doctors note and doctors letter stating I had tonsilitis due to being around loads of people, had the bad flu etc and the main boss of accomodation said I was making stupid excuses just to leave and was lying about the tonsillitis!

Same guy this time but at main campus(as hes the main boss) 3 weeks ago got a cough so bad my family reckons its bhroncitis(bad spelling lol) as even now im coughing to the point of being sick a bit, and nose and eyes and head so bad I need loads of sleep, got a doctors note to say about this and mentioned about all the parties and people smashing things and getting drunk and as told to grow a backbone as its university life and I should be lenient.

All they care about is making cash.

Talk to someone else - maybe the head of welfare at your uni? The head of accommodation sounds like a tosser himself, so find another influential person who is more sympathetic, and get them on your side. Then you'll have a strong case for moving again.

Reply 14

have you already paid the entire year out - of not then stop paying until they listen

**** em up

cant be dodged.. i got bitches in my halls too.. they're loud and loud.

I was thinking that, as next rent is due tommorow and I dont want to stay anyway but I have a contract till July(despite only being in for 2 more weeks before I have another week of exams then finish till October)

Theres a clause in the contract that says if rent isnt paid on the day its due they will charge you £50 and if it isnt paid by another week theres another £50 charge and they wont let you go up till the next year and/or withold results until you pay.

I like being in the halls my last one was fantastic it was just tatty and with 60 year old furniture(like wardrobes attached to walls) metal beds that were falling to bits, 2 windows both which handles broke first time I used them. 1 fridge between 20 people and no freezer. And they werent mixed halls.

The lads there went drinking a lot and invited me and I got on with them great and food was never stolen! I just hated the fact they were so out of date and falling to bits.

well since you've only got another few weeks, toughen it out and then move out for the summer back home. are you allowed to carry on living in your halls next year, because i know a lot of unis only let the first years have them. if this is so, then count youself lucky, and if it's not so, then hope for a better room next year.
