A2 aqa english literature coursework help

Hiya,
For my english literature coursework, I have decided to compare' A thousand splendid suns' by Khaled Hosseini (I have previously read this book) with 'pride and prejudice' by Jane Austen and although I have the general idea of doing my essay on the theme of gender roles, I have no idea how to compare the 2 books or where to start. What I mean is, how do gender roles actually compare within the book? Do I look at something like how the societies in which the characters live in impact upon their gender roles? I have no clue. I just need some idea and arguments to start processing a coherent essay and also possibly some help with some essay titles.
