Is English General Paper (8021) a legible qualification for taking English courses in college?
What are the other things, other than academics, which is helpful in taking English courses?

Yes, but you will also need 2 other A levels. It then depends on what grades you achieved and what the entry requirements are for the place you wish to study.

Good application/ personal statement.
Extra curriculars.

The entry requirements for the universities I checked mentions that I need A Level English literature. I have been told that English General Paper will work fine. But is it enough? Or should I focus on extra curricular or literature and language based activities as well?
I am taking English General Paper because it is the only English based subject provided in my sixth form.

I think your referee can make that point in your reference.

You can do extra currics such as writing or even journalism.

An EPQ.

You can be widely read.
