You could try chemical peeling, but it depends on the scar, how deep and how much you have ?

Effective Acne Scars Treatment:

The newest form of treatment is laser resurfacing, which can be done in the doctor or dermatologist's office. The laser removes the damaged top layer of skin and tightens the middle layer, leaving it smoother. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour and isn't painful because the doctor will first numb your skin with local anesthesia. It usually takes between 3 and 10 days for the skin to heal completely.

Another more traditional method for treating acne scarring is dermabrasion, which uses a rotating wire brush or spinning diamond instrument to wear down the surface of the skin. As the skin heals, a new, smoother layer replaces the abraded skin. It may take a bit longer for skin to heal using dermabrasion - usually between 10 days and 3 weeks.

Both of these types of treatments will cause skin to turn red, and this may last for several months. You can only have these treatments if you don't have an active case of acne at the time of treatment.

You may use this anti-marks cream which reduces dark spots left from pimples & lighten pigmentation marks.

We also suggest you to use a more mild chemical peel/ointment to help improve the appearance of scarred areas. One such product is Acne Scarguard which improves the appearance of both the new and old acne scars. It is highly recommended.

The Vortex
There are a few admittedly, but they are barely noticeable unless I am right up close to a mirror in bright light.

Does vitamin E actually work for scars other than the pigmented red ones?

Cheers for the responses guys!

Vitamin E

Whenever the skin is damaged, whether accidentally through trauma or deliberately, as in the case of an operation, a scar forms as part of the natural-healing process.

Many people report that rubbing a cream containing vitamin E into the scar area, or taking a supplement of vitamin E, helps to speed up the healing process and reduces the appearance of the scar afterwards.

In the diet, good sources of vitamin E include wheatgerm, nuts (especially peanuts), vegetable oils, eggs, leafy green vegetables and wholemeal bread. In the Caribbean, cocoa butter cream is often used to help heal scars and to prevent the formation of keloid scars, the thickened raised scar that people with dark skin often develop.

Scars tend to gradually fade and look less obvious as time passes. However, once two years has passed since the scar occurred, its appearance is unlikely to change any more.

If a scar is still obvious and is causing cosmetic problems, then it can easily be disguised using camouflage make-up, which is available from pharmacists.

Doctors have used silicon gel sheets for many years to try to reduce the appearance of scars. When placed over the scar, they work by flattening, softening and fading red and raised scars. These are now available from the pharmacist and research suggests that the improvements they bring are permanent.

Other medical treatments are available to improve the appearance of scars that can be discussed with your doctor if needed.

Excellent advice!
EDIT: I was wondering if people can only see those marks in very bright light. Does anyone know?

I think bright lights- camera lights, always show you face scars more, as they show the shadows in the crater pits of acne.

I'm another one for bio-oil.
I've found it to be really good on my scars and, in the end, it doesn't hurt to try anyway.

Or the vitamin E capsule idea.

How did you get rid of your acne and how long did it take? I'm on antibiotics and cream at the moment hoping it will clear in a month... but do you have any other answers?

Bio Oil contains a suspension of vitamin E and vitamin A (?) Its bloody expensive tho.

I have to say, I have tried everything to get rid of scars and nothing works. Vitamin E, Bio Oil, Palmer's cocoa butter stuff (though it smells good) and it's not cheap either. Very annoying.

Sorry though, not to discourage you, my scars are pretty bad and I'm sure Vitamin E etc. would work on you
