it shouldnt be a problem. however the female commentators that have been on, whether its the same one or what i dk but they have been awful im afraid and dont deserve the job if they arent going to do it as good as the men would.

I don't mind the idea of a female commentator, no prejudice here but that woman commentator on MotD is really, really, really annoying. She seems to think we want to hear a player's life story whenever he gets the ball. And it seems more natural hearing a man's voice commentating too. It just does, sorry.
Nooo...

It sounds wrong. :nn:

And it is indecently annoying when there is that shreek when she says "GOALL!!!"

Gahh - it annoys any football fan, and most men hate it.

They're not too good, but yes they should if they have a mutual interest with the sport
Reply 5
Whilst the male ones are better , there is nothing wrong with the female commentator.
Reply 6
That one woman one is bloody annoying.

If we could get a fat butch woman who had a man's voice, then I wouldn't have a problem.
If they know what they are talking about, I dont see the problem with it.
Reply 8
If it has to be that woman, no. Describing dribbling as "like a hot knife through butter"

Oh, shut up, of course they should if they're good enough.
Her sex is completely irrelevant. She has just as much right to get excited about it or commentate on it as anybody else does.
yea i was thinking this the other day, when her voice goes all whiny I feel like throwing up.

Natural male instinct im assuming...

Ive got nothing against female commentators in principle, but she has to work on not making football sound like an episode of eastenders in which something worth shrieking about happens...

the whole enthusiasm for the game seems forced to me

i think the problem is, we're hearing something we havent experienced before - so we tend to scrutinise what she's saying. I'll tell you now, half the male commentators are just as bad. Like someone said tho, cant complain with a decent female commentator.

haha yea i thought exactly the same!!
What was that about? Did she just overhear someone saying that one time and just threw it in? There was like a massive pause between her last, sensible, comment and then this...

Although it does entertain, which i suppose is the point of the entire thing
i don't think they should, it's just wrong. don't have a go at me or anything, i am female myself. i just think it sounds completely wrong!

Exactly what I think. I don't have any issue with it, but she is rubbish. You hear the girls on Sky Sports News and you wonder why the BBC can't get the likes of them. I don't mind if it's not Georgie ( )!

Yeah, she seems so wooden and when the pen against Man City this weekend came along she was hardly berating them. It was just a bit lame.

Like John Motson. Oh my God. Some of the things he's said in the last couple of years has made people burst out with laughter. It's saddening really.

I want Claire Tomlinson back on Sky. She's fit, and good at the job too. Why does she supports Spurs?
What exactly is the question here? The one you put in the title and the one in the Poll title are quite different.

Should women Commentate on MOTD?

Of course. There shouldn't be limitations of entry regarding sex. If you're good enough for the job, and do the job well then why not.
Poll: Should there be a female commentator on MOTD?

This suggests there should be a female commentator there for the sake of it. No, in that case there shouldn't be. I'm not so hot on commentators names, but there are a small number of those out there that do a good job for Sky/local radios, one in particular that usually does Championship games for 5 live I think. I forget her name, but Jackie Oakley of the BBC is awful in comparison, I think she's kind of letting the side down by being so bad and thereby raising the issue.

Jacqui Oatley I think her name is.... shes honestly rubbish!

I can just about put up with her commentating on some undercard MOTD Fulham/Boro match, but if she were to get a live job it would be unbearable.
Only when there are women on the pitch! Rar! :fuhrer:
