However much your car can fit.

lol my dad has a van (he owns a shop) so i intend on taking alot  x

I took all mine in a van; I don't care what anyone says, I wanted all my crap and I have a lot of it!! Mainly clothes and shoes it was though tbh. And some files.

Most guys just brought a telly and a crate of beer and I thought I had my priorities wrong :s-smilie:

But I basically moved out of my dad's house which is why all my stuff is here.

My sister moved:
- most of her closet = 1.5-2 suitcases
- her A-Level files = 3 or 4 boxes
- misc. (like plants and duvets and stuff) = a small suitcase

aw man, what if ya cant get a car down to where ya wanna be??
im not going on the train or anything like that filly loaded :frown: but i will if i have to

I will only take the bare minimum.

-A few weeks worth of clothes.
-Extra pair of shoes
-Toothbrush, trimmer and all other hygienic stuff.
-My laptop
-PSP+DS
-Portable HDD with films, games etc.
-Guitar+amp

Or I could show up with a lot of booze, condoms and Xbox complete with Guitar Hero.

Decisions, decisions.

Filled the back of a Range Rover.

Bags of food, suitcase full of clothes, DVDs, TV, Xbawks, Boooks, laptop and extras, duvets, pillows, laundry basket, cutlery, paperwork...

Ugh, I've got to cart most of it back on Friday. In a Rover 25. Should be interesting.

Planning on at least 2 car loads full to the brim :frown:

There is just so much essential stuff like shoes etc

Have a cupboard full of "uni stuff" already!

Reply 9

I moved out of my room at home so I took shedloads with me, i had a car full and then some extra stuff in a small van.. :P

Reply 10

I moved out completely when I started uni, so took everything I owned which filled a large car (Toyota Previa kind, with storage space maximised).

Here you go, my mum and mate helped me take my stuff on the day. She took a picture of it all, to point out my superficial-ness:

I only took a few clothes, my laptop and my guitar. Not much at all. Since I've been here, everything's just increased, clothes, shoes, guitar, tv, xbox, fridge, radio. I'm taking home much more than I brought with me.

I've been thinking about this, and I reckon I can probably manage fine with around 3 medium-sized suitcases - should be able to get everything important into 3. Perhaps even 2, if the second one was a large suitcase.

I won't have the opportunity of squishing all of my worldly possessions into a car, so it'll just be me, my boyfriend and a train.

For you (and others who take absolutely *loads*, other than those who have moved out of home permanently anyway) - do you actually find that you need/use all of that stuff? Or do you sometimes find yourself thinking, "why the hell did I bring that?!"

Erm...well I'll be totally honest, not all of it was needed. I just wanted the room to feel home-y cause I was quite nervous about moving out.

A brief think; essentials were clothes and shoes (to be fair that was the majority of stuff), toiletries and some files (I have one with blank paper and plastic wallets and a finance and uni docs folder, I brought A-level folders but unless you really think you'll need em I recommend don't bring em).

Other stuff was...photos, posters, frames, and books, though apart from the poetry books, half are still unread really.
Don't regret bringing it all though!

I have accumulated even more now by way of posters/photos/shoes and clothes and files, but I'm just moving next door next year thank god!

I'll be alone on a train. So not much. Just books, lot's of them.

Yeah - that's understandable. I guess the idea of moving into a strange room with just a handful of possessions is quite daunting, when I come to think about it!

At least you won't have far to move, anyway. Thanks for getting back to me.. it's good to know this stuff!
